Timeframe: 01.01.2020 – 31.12.2021

Funded by: ifa / Zivik Federal Office of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany

Key actors in the project:

Youth (women, minorities, specific groups, first-time voters) – 150 young people aged 16-18; high schools; local governments – municipal officials and municipal councils in the 10 target municipalities; civil society organizations in 10 municipalities; media, and representatives of political parties.

The municipalities where the activities are being implemented are: Prilep, Resen, Krushevo, Dolneni, Bitola, Kumanovo, Veles, Shtip, Debar, Gevgelija.

This project, with its approach, is based on a commitment to work for young people and with young people and to provide conditions in which young people can fulfill their potential as active citizens who contribute not only to their personal and professional development, but to the development of the whole society. We will highlight issues related to youth participation and the information they identified as important elements of all key stakeholders as essential for the development of every young person into an active citizen and an equal participant in all social processes.

By implementing the activities, we expect that the young people and all relevant stakeholders will gather and work to improve the democratization process in the country.

With this in mind, we aim to contribute to young people (women, minorities [Albanians, Roma, Turks, Vlachs, Bosniaks], specific groups, first-time voters), organize locally, discuss local policies with local authorities and political parties, initiating local activities supported by the media and the community.

These activities will lead to improving the social and economic situation of young people and creating an environment that will enable young people to fulfill their rights, needs and interests.

Youth participation and the achievement of the project goals and results will be achieved through: Youth Empowerment – youth training; Youth Camps for the Development of Local Initiatives; Implementing initiatives prepared by young people; Storytelling – advocacy; Advocacy – presenting young people’s ideas locally and nationally; Organizing open debates – Young people ask questions; Young people inspire and support their peers; Meetings with the media and their support.
