Closeout Conference of the project "Prevention of risks for environmental sustainable practices for agro producers - PRESPA"

On 9th October, the Closeout conference for the project "Prevention of Risks for Environmental Sustainable Practices for Agro producers - PRESPA" was held in the hall of the Municipality of Devoll, Republic of Albania. This project is financed by the European Union through the cross-border cooperation programme between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, and it is implemented by Association Center for Civic Initiative - Prilep, the Municipality of Resen, the Organization for Management of Destinations from Korça, and the Municipality of Devoll.

In front of a full audience, it was announced that the project had been successfully completed, resulting in the installation of sewage networks and wastewater treatment plants in Dolno Perovo, Municipality of Resen in North Macedonia, and in Shuec, Rakicke, and Zagradec in the Municipality of Devoll, Republic of Albania.

- These investments directly impact the lives of local citizens while also contributing to environmental protection. “I hope that this cooperation and similar projects will continue in the future; we already know each other and have formed new friendships,” said Eduard Duro, the Mayor of Devoll.

- “Prespa is a unique region, and Prespa Lake serves as a unifying factor between three states. Through our joint efforts, we have a responsibility to preserve Prespa Lake. This project is yet another step towards protecting it. I am pleased to be closing this successful project and hope we will have many more like it in the future,” added Krste Micalevski, Head of the Department for Local Economic Development and Cross-Border Cooperation, Municipality of Resen.

At the conference, the project was presented from its inception to completion, featuring a series of photos, videos, and statistics. Highlights included the construction of sewage networks and WWTPs, the transfer of knowledge between municipalities, the joint development of an Action Plan for managing the online system and WWTPs in Resen and Devoll, and a mobile application that displays sensor results monitoring the treatment plants’ performance.

Several speakers shared their positive experiences, including Marcel Rusu, Director of the Public Utility Company "Proleter" in Resen, and Remzi Kutrolli, a representative of the Municipality of Devoll.

The conference concluded with an agreement to pursue future joint activities and projects.
