As part of the Roma Social Housing Program in Kichevo, implemented by the Association Center for Civic Initiative Prilep in partnership with the Municipality of Kichevo, a final conference was held on 30 September 2024 at the Kichevo Municipality Council premises. The conference brought together representatives from civil society organizations, the business sector, public institutions, and members of the Kichevo Municipality Council.
The representative of the EU welcomed the successful completion of the project and noted that the EU has supported, and will continue to support such initiatives.
A representative from the Ministry of Labour, Demography, and Youth stated that the construction of social housing for Roma is of particular importance for improving the living and social standards of the Roma community.
As part of the project, 150 Roma families were involved, along with employees from the Municipality of Kichevo, the Kichevo Center for Social Work, and civil society organizations.
A promotional video was also presented, showcasing the project activities and outcomes, including the selection process of the 30 families chosen for the social housing program and the newly constructed housing units in the Ivani Dol area.
The project aligns with the Roma Strategy of the Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020, which focuses on the five key sectors for the Roma community: employment, education, housing, health, and culture.
The implementation of this project has resolved the housing issue for at least 30 Roma families in Kichevo.
The project is part of the IPA II program, funded by the European Union.
