Documenting Torture

Within the project “Holistic action against torture” implemented by the Center for Civic Initiative with the partners from Serbia: IAN – Belgrade and Center for human rights – Nish, also supported by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, training for Documenting Torture was provided.

Within the project “Holistic action against torture” implemented by the Center for Civic Initiative with the partners from Serbia: IAN – Belgrade and Center for human rights – Nish, also supported by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, training for Documenting Torture was provided. This training had a goal to increase the capacities of the CCI team and their coworkers before the opening of the Center for rehabilitation of torture victims. The training was provided by the Belgrade IAN team.

The team was thought what is the Istanbul protocol, how it’s functioning, what are the responsibilities of the Country and etc. The present were introduced to the instrument for efficient and adequate research and documenting the cases of torture. The CCI team was introduced to the basic principles for interviewing the victims, then with the psychological and physical consequences and evidence of torture. The trainings were held by: Biljana Petrovik, Bojana Trifunovik, Slavoljub Milojevik, Vladimir Jovik and Gjorgje Alempijevik.
