Center of Civic Initiative within the project “Empowering minorities and specific groups for promoting participatory democracy at the community level”, financed by Ifa/Zivik Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, has implemented 10 consultative forums in 10 municipalities from the country ( Prilep, Resen, Krusevo, Dolneni, Bitola, Kumanovo, Veles, Stip, Debar and Gevgelija).

The moderator on these meetings was Mr. Goran Mihajlovski from “Sakam da kazam” and participants were youth (first time voters), women, minorities ( ethnic, religious), political party representatives, local self-government representatives and media. On these meetings presented were examples that result in improvement regarding the civic participation and inter-sector cooperation (youth, local self-government, media, political parties). The moderator Mr. Goran Mihajlovski has presented very good local examples regarding civil participation in our country as well as succesfull examples regarding civic participation in other countries in the world like Slovenia, Croatia, Canada and other examples that are acceptable and can be implemented in our country. The media presence of Mr. Mihajlovski as well as the successful presentation was developing successful discussions in which the participants were sharing already successful civic actions but also, they were bringing new ideas to the table. What needs to be emphasized is the great interest shown from the participants and their inclusion in productive discussions as well as the fact that on some of this meetings, concrete agreements for future meetings and cooperation between formal and informal groups, civil society organizations and institutions were made.

We can conclude that this activity, has attained its goals and has stimulated the youth to take over leadership roles in the future regarding different developing initiatives in their communities. On one hand the attendees, especially the minorities and specific groups (women, first time voters), have shown that they are ready to look for transparency and responsibility in the future and on the other hand they have confirmed and have shown their interest for participation in the creation of local politics.

The forums have produced an interest for new meetings and consultations of this kind where the main focus will be connection and cooperation between the beneficiaries in creation of local plans and strategies (politics).
