National standards of treatment in the sector of prevention from torture

The training brought to the prison personnel new information and experiences about the international and national standards of treatment in prevention of torture.

 

Within the project “Holistic action against torture” that we are implementing with the partners from Serbia: IAN – Belgrade and Center for human rights – Nish, funded by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia we realized a training on the topic “National standards of treatment in the sector of prevention from torture”. This training was held in the Hotel Kristal Palas in Prilep, and was intended for part of the Prison Prilep personnel.

At this training, the lawyer Zoran Kochoski had his speech on the topic “Standards for prohibition of torture and abuse in practice”, the judge from the Primary Court in Prilep Jasmina Siskovska Stojkovik had her speech on the topic “Legal regulations for treatment within prevention of torture” and also the director of the Prison Prilep Aleksandar Dameski talked about “The role of the prison personnel in prevention of inter-prison violence in the prisons”.

The training brought to the prison personnel new information and experiences about the international and national standards of treatment in prevention of torture.

The project “Holistic action against torture” aims to contribute to the effective prevention of torture, the fight against impunity and the healing of the consequences of torture in the Balkans.

Within this project there are number of activities planned, such as meetings, trainings, round tables with relevant institutions, functioning of the Center for rehabilitation of torture victims, which is giving help to the victims of torture, and other activities.
