A conference “Together for prevention against Gender Based Violence” was held on December 20th at the Hotel Continental in Skopje. This conference is in fact the final activity of the project “Actions against Gender Based Violence in Roma and other disadvantaged communities” funded by the German Embassy in Skopje.
A conference “Together for prevention against Gender Based Violence” was held on December 20th at the Hotel Continental in Skopje. This conference is in fact the final activity of the project “Actions against Gender Based Violence in Roma and other disadvantaged communities” funded by the German Embassy in Skopje.
There were more than sixty participants from all over our country, representatives from various sectors such as government, municipalities, civic society, international organizations and media. At this meeting the results achieved by this project in the past year were presented and then there was a discussion about the challenges of Gender Based Violence.
The conference was also attended by Katrin Frühinsfeld – First Secretary of the German Embassy Skopje, who welcomed the conference and addressed the participants.
Elena Grozdanova, MA, State Counselor for Equal Opportunities from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Dejan Toseski – Director of the Inter-municipal Center for Social Work in Prilep, Ajsha Muaremoska – representative of the Commission for Equal Opportunities – Municipality of Dolneni, the project coordinator and the experts working with the victims within the project also addressed the participants.
The conference brought transfer of experience between the participants, discussion about certain situations and problems with gender based violence in all spheres of life and of course It ended with recommendations to continue the work in the field of supporting victims of gender based violence, but also to work on prevention of gender based violence in the area of work with youth, campaigns, etc.
